AIARE 2 is a three-day course for experienced backcountry travelers who want to deepen their understanding of the snowpack and take on more leadership in their group. It covers more advanced weather and snowpack analysis, trip-plan development, and applying the decision framework in complex terrain. It builds on a season or more of real backcountry experience after AIARE 1.
The focus moves from following a plan to building and adapting one as conditions evolve.
