Avalanche Rescue is a one-day course focused entirely on companion rescue: beacon search, probing, strategic shoveling, and managing a rescue scene. It is a prerequisite for AIARE 2 and is recommended as an annual refresher for everyone who travels in avalanche terrain, because rescue is a perishable skill that decays without practice.
Many backcountry travelers retake it each season; speed and efficiency in a real burial come only from repetition.
