The beginner stage is about turning on purpose and controlling speed on green (easiest) groomed runs. Skiers progress from the wedge toward a wedge-christie, bringing the skis more parallel through the turn; snowboarders link heel-side and toe-side turns and learn to traverse. The milestone is descending a green run comfortably, in control, and stopping wherever you choose.
