Methow Valley Community Trail
About this ski route
The Methow Valley carries the largest groomed cross-country ski network in the United States, roughly 120 kilometers of trail maintained as one connected system. The Community Trail runs the valley floor from Mazama to Winthrop, and the Sun Mountain trails climb above town. Because it is groomed daily and connects towns, lodges and cafes, it is the rare backcountry-feeling ski where you can stop for lunch indoors.

December through March. The valley sits in the rain shadow and gets consistent dry snow.

Before you go
Know before you go
- A Methow Trails pass is required and funds the grooming.
- The valley runs very cold in midwinter. Dress for well below freezing.
- Highway 20 over the North Cascades closes for winter, so approach from the south or east.
